Jim and Rhonda DiMarzio are the owners of Stone Hearth Alpaca Ranch located in Uniontown, Ohio since 2004.  As most of you know, this is considered the “The Heart of the Alpaca Country” and we couldn’t agree more.  Because of our centralized location, our business plan was to integrate high-quality Peruvian animals into an area rich in resources i.e. safe pasture lands, high quality hay and the ability to access the Interstate 77 within minutes. However, our simple, straight-forward farming business plan expanded exponentially within our second year of operation.  The opportunity to board and consign other alpacas provided us a great opportunity to co-manage animals while extending our market interest to new clients.  From there, we created a partnership which started our own “shear contracting” business.   This business allowed us to visit a tremendous amount of farms all across the state of Ohio and sometimes beyond.  With all told, we couldn’t be more pleased with the serene life style alpacas have offered us while raising our five (very active) boys.  Actually, it is quite therapeutic if you come to think of it.

Daily chores are handled by my husband.  Even though Jim is engulfed in his career, he still finds time to handle his daily routine regarding nutrition and barn management. Keeping the animals fit and healthy by taking an individual hands-on approach is his main priority.  Thanks to his symbiotic approach to work and home life, the alpacas are managed with care and due-diligence in all matters of routine maintenance. 

The daily business such as sales, marketing and customer service, etc., is the main focus of what I do along with offering my assistance and experience to customers and friends when ever requested. We know that sound breeding choices are paramount when buying and selling animals.  We are proud to offer the full package with our own standing herdsire Black Magic’s BOND.  Bond has a strong affinity for being handled which makes his breeding events incredibly easy and safe.  His crimpy, bundled fleece is consistent through out and his conformation, massive stove pipe legs and incredible fine, dense fleece has gained him many ribbons including blues and a prestigious purple.  Our business philosophy from the beginning might have changed with the “spin-offs” in alpaca farming but one things has remained consistent- Peruvian lineage and with Accoyo genetics.  It is this combination we believe will keep our farm as one of those “must see small farms” with “top notch customer service” in northeast Ohio. 

In closing, we believe in treating our customers with respect and gratitude.  We understand that alpaca farming is endeavor that requires a strong dedication to livestock management but also requires a willingness to invest “real” money. We truly respect this from beginning to end!  We offer our services 24/7 and are dedicated in keeping ourselves well informed for the betterment of our customers and our farm.
