On one fateful day in June of 2000, we found our dream home, a beautiful old farmhouse with a very lonely bank barn. Not long after we moved in we discovered Alpacas and the lonely barn was quickly filled with these fleecy humming beauties. Our lives have never been the same.

Our philosophy was to build an elite herd of alpacas. Our first animals purchased were from some of the finest bloodlines in North America. Offspring from some of the most renowned herdsires from New England to the Pacific Coast. In just seven short years, Silvercloud Farm has grown to a full service farm. Our pastures are now home to over 60 Huacaya alpacas. We have had the thrill of welcoming nearly 100 crias into the world with many more due each year.

After 18 months of carefully selecting our foundation herd we are thrilled with the results, and senior alpaca judges from our national shows are in agreement. In addition to these Award Winning alpacas produced from carefully chosen top herdsires, Evander (our own Multi-Get-of-Sire decorated Herdsire) and Maple Brook Sapphire (our Champion producing Black Herdsire) Silvercloud's "Homegrown" cria's are now taking top awards at all the major alpaca shows! To complete the cycle, some of these crias have become Elite Herdsires themselves! Multiple Champions like our ScF Lucky Luciano, ScF Mint D'Or, ScF Chewbacca, Silvercloud Farm's Mercurio as well as Giacomo (our Peruvian Dakotia son) all have crias hitting the ground and knocking them out of the showring!

Silvercloud Farm is very much a family run farm. Jim manages the day to day operations at the farm, handles the animal husbandry and is on the road in the "Orglemobile" doing Mobile Breedings with our Studs. Helen is very active in the alpaca industry. She currently serves as the President of the Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association and is completing her Halter Judge Certification. Our extended family all jumped aboard with us when we invested in alpacas and continue to lend a hand when needed on the farm. We are grateful for their participation and are happy to share this incredible business opportunity with them. Our daughter Mia Rae was born in December, 2005. We'll be sure to find something to keep her busy on the farm in the years to come!
